HALLOWEEN FASHION ICONS

Instead of going as the stereotypical "slutty bunny" a la Mean Girls because Halloween is "the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it", I personally prefer going as something somewhat scary - it is HALLOWEEN after all! And so, with this in mind, here are my top 5 Halloween style icons, that hopefully will give you a little inspiration.

1. Wednesday Addams
I actually dressed up as Wednesday last year but I would happily do it again this year!
Get the look: A dress with a white peter pan collar, or a dress and a shirt you can wear underneath (that's what I did), the palest face powder you can find, and a centre parting finished off with tight plaits.
2. Nina Sayers/The Swan Queen
When I saw this film not only did I think the acting was amazing, so was the costuming and make-up. It really added to the theatrics and tone of the film.
Get the look: A black top and tutu, white face paint, a tiara, red lippy and lots of eyeliner.

3. Rosemary Woodhouse
One of Mia Farrow's most iconic roles was as Rosemary Woodhouse in the psychological horror "Rosemary's Baby". Along with this iconic role, came the iconic outfit.
Get the look: A blue nightdress, a fake knife, and a sixties pixie cut.

4. Carrie White
Notable for one of the few horror films to get multiple Oscar nominations, Carrie is a classic 70's film.
Get the look: A pink prom dress, tiara, flowers, and lots and lots of fake blood!

5. Helena Bonham Carter in almost every role she's ever done

With Tim Burton for a husband, it's no surprise that Helena Bonham Carter has a tendency to be drawn to dark, gothic roles. There's so many characters of hers to choose from but just to name a few... Bellatrix Lestrange (Harry Potter), Mrs Lovett (Sweeny Todd), Miss Haversham (Great Expectations), The Red Queen (Alice In Wonderland), Dr Julia Hoffman (Dark Shadows), Elizabeth Frankenstein (Mary Shelley's Frankenstein), The Witch (Big Fish)... well I said just a few didn't I?
Get the look: All of them involve some kind of corset and big crazy hair.

Lots of love, Anna x
